Halloween Sewing Day with Amanda Browder

Halloween Sewing Day with Amanda Browder
Saturday, October 31 | 11 AM–4 PM

Join us at MAM for a full day of community sewing in support of Amanda Browder’s Soft Monuments, a citywide collaborative textile project taking shape across Missoula this fall.

Missoula-born artist Amanda Browder, now based in Brooklyn, is known for large-scale, community-driven fabric installations that transform public spaces. In partnership with the University of Montana School of Visual and Media Arts, Browder is inviting community members to help create Soft Monuments: two monumental textile installations that will be draped across buildings in the Missoula area.

Stop by MAM anytime between 10 AM and 4 PM to help sew, meet other participants, and contribute to this ambitious collaborative artwork. No sewing experience is necessary—there will be opportunities for everyone to pitch in, from simple stitching to working alongside other community members to assemble the larger textile forms.

This special sewing day is part of Browder’s residency in Missoula, which includes workshops, lectures, public sewing days, and a public unveiling. Together, these events celebrate the many hands, conversations, and creative contributions that bring public art to life.

Come for an hour or stay for the afternoon. All are welcome!

Admission is always free
