Painting with Wax (Encaustic)Workshop (FULL)ages 16+/ adults
Teacher(s): Shawna Moore June 07, 2008

Explore the
exciting medium of encaustic painting with a twist. This ancient art form
of wax painting is a perfect compliment for mixed media work. Collage and
image transfer are achieved with the use of transfer papers, text, rice paper
and toner images. If you are new to encaustic painting, don't worry, we
will cover the basics to get you started and then begin adding images and
additional media. Expect a full day of work in the studio resulting in several
finished paintings. Students should bring up to 6 rigid surfaces to paint
on, 8"x10" or less in size or students can purchase the boards at the Art Museum. Moore
recommends Baltic birch plywood, available at the UC Bookstore, or untempered
masonite, AC plywood or doorskin.
This class is appropriate for ages 16 and older. Minimum: 7 students. This class will have an additional charge of $10 for materials.
