MAM is dedicated to offering the community exhibitions and education programs that create stimulating, art-filled environments that engage the intellect, spirit and heart. MAM's education programs, be they art classes, artist talks, lectures or discussions, aim to nurture creativity, encourage innovation and broaden artistic and intellectual horizons.
All MAM teachers are dedicated artists engaged in their own creative processes or certified art teachers, both qualities which bring professionalism and a fresh approach to teaching art.
MAM presents classes for students from pre-school through adult, and offers a diverse selection of media in hands-on classes. Public programs offer a stimulating variety of speakers and topics. From teaching the traditional fundamentals of artistic expression to examining groundbreaking new technological media, MAM provides a conducive, friendly environment for learning.

TOUR: Look, Learn, Respond. MAM offers an opportunity for your class or organization to discover the cultural connections, diverse meanings, feelings and associations that are only gained through looking closely at an original work of art. MAM offers free guided tours of its galleries to school groups, community organizations and the general public. The tours are approximately forty-five minutes in length, and are facilitated by trained docents or a staff person. Teachers are encouraged to preview the exhibitions before bringing their classes. Pre-visit materials and information will be sent upon request. Three weeks advance notice is recommended for scheduling a tour. Please contact Renee Taaffe, Curator of Education to arrange a tour.
READ: MAM's Information Lounge carries a wide selection of books, catalogues and other publications selected to enhance the current exhibitions and promote understanding of the issues that impact the region's visual culture. Exhibition catalogues published by MAM are available for purchase through this website's secure shopping cart. Watch for more titles and products added regularly.
RESEARCH: With support from the Montana State Cultural Trust, MAM's growing permanent art collection will soon be accessible on this website. An extensive searchable database will provide access to images and information about artworks and artists relevant to Montana's contemporary visual culture.
