Thank you for supporting MAM! No Gift is Too Small.

MAM's ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN 2011-12

MAM has secured a generous matching challenge gift from the CHARLES ENGELHARD FOUNDATION to raise, over a two-year period, an additional $50,000 in new or increased donations. MAM has big aspirations and we need your financial support. Please join our Campaign and benefit from a 100% tax deduction.

MAM continues to dream BIG—as well it should. These are inspiring times at MAM with record attendance in the first days of the Ansel Adams exhibit, and over 125,000 people served since the completion of the building expansion. We have growing demands for art classes by all age groups, a vibrant schedule of exhibitions in the Lynda M. Frost American Indian Gallery, and next year the second Montana Triennial will fill the entire museum with works by Montana artists.

Sustaining an art museum is an expensive endeavor. Art education, which is what we are all about, is labor intensive and we must continue to attract and retain highly qualified professionals. To do that our salaries must be competitive—with those of comparable museums—and our salaries are not and, indeed, have been essentially frozen for a number of years. In view of escalating costs of supplies, equipment, travel, postage and shipping, etc., maintaining commitment to continue to provide cutting-edge exhibits, classes, scholarships, lectures, staff development, equipment replacement—even at current levels—demands continued aggressive growth in our annual fund campaign.

Donors play a key role in bridging the gap between MAM’s aspirations, commitments, and financial resources. Together, we are bolstering the cultural fabric of our community. I invite you to help MAM sustain its goals make a gift to our Annual Campaign today.

Below is a sampling of the great work we accomplished last year and how we give exponentially back to our community by engaging the public in the exploration of contemporary art.

  • Admission is always FREE at MAM and was provided to over 20,000 museum visitors.
  • Ansel Adams: A Legacy , on display for six months, is a remarkable ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity for many, benefitting the entire region. Over 2,650 people attended the opening events.
  • MAM produced 22 contemporary art exhibitions and related educational programs.
  • Our 5th Grade Art Experience brought nearly every 5th grader in Missoula County and beyond to MAM.
  • MAM presented 741 artists to our community, representing over 32 Montana towns.
  • Over 20 artist teachers were employed by MAM and 98 educational tours conducted.
  • We served over 300 students through the Flagship After-School Art Program.
  • MAM offered over 55 art classes and provided 60 scholarships.
  • MAM's Teen Open Studio Program served over 80 teens—all FREE of charge!

Why people are donating in MAM...

Carol Seim - "I have enjoyed the last almost 40 years being part of the MAM family from volunteer to Board member to Art Associate. It is the strong heartbeat of our community environment --and I'm pleased that it continues to be so alive."
