The Montana Bricolage Artists (MBA) of the Missoula and Bitterroot valleys, along with invited artists from across Montana, present The Trunk Show. Bricolage is defined as a construction or creation made from a diverse range of available things.

Hiding in Plain Sight: Photographing the Hutterites of Liberty County by Jill Brody
Hutterite colonies are a photographic Eden. Their colorful anachronistic clothing, the muted earthly tones of the prairie, and the immense skies become visually rich metaphors for the contrast of their centuries-old communal lives of faith with the increasingly vast, inescapable, individuating technological forces of the 21st Century forces that are tugging us all, ready or not, into the future.

Recent Acquisitions Exhibition
The Missoula Art Museum's collecting mission is to collect, preserve, exhibit and research art that is relevant to the culture of the American West with an emphasis on contemporary Montana artists. MAM has been blessed over the last few years with several donations of exceptional artworks that we are excited to show off in this exhibition.

This is an exhibition featuring a selection of artists from the MAM's contemporary American Indian Art Collection that accentuate words in their compositions. Each artist incorporates the word into their artwork in a unique way.

This exhibition features the wonderful artwork created by Hellgate High Senior Studio art students and art students involved in the newly formed International Baccalaureate program adopted by Hellgate High School and Missoula County School District.

Jane Waggoner Deschner: Often, All That Remains
MAM is pleased to host Often, All That Remains created by Billings, MT artist Jane Waggoner Deschner. This new work has a different sensibility. In Often, All That Remains the works are generated from discarded and abandoned photographs. According to Deschner there are three elements that come together in this body of work.

Jay Schmidt: Warning Shots
MAM is excited to work with Schmidt on mounting this comprehensive one man exhibition, his first major museum show in Montana. As visitors to the exhibit will see, Schmidt is a prolific painter and sculptor with a strong vision.

It's What You Don't See by Whitefish, MT artist Donna H. Gans, is the most recent installation created by regionally important artists and hosted by MAM. Gans is an experienced painter who has used the landscape as a point of departure.

Jared Shear: Cougar Peak-A-Boo
Jared Shear created a plein air painting of Cougar Peak every day for one year. Consequently, he catalogued all of Cougar Peak's seasonal changes and the resulting 365 acrylic paintings on paper are worthy of celebrating.

Louise Lamontagne: My Closet Collection
MAM is proud to present this previously unseen body of work by St. Ignatius, MT artist Louise Lamontagne. Lamontagne has been featured in group exhibitions at MAM which have included her luscious, expressive, and colorful landscapes. This is her first solo exhibition at MAM.

Indian Education for All
A Museum/School Collaborative grant to promote Indian Education for All, sponsored by Montana OPI and the Montana Historical Society, was awarded to MAM this past fall. The grant is intended to support the efforts of museums in promoting American Indian education in the schools through the use of unique collections connected to Montana's indigenous population.
