In connection with MAM’s current exhibit, Nexus: The Lela and Rudy Autio Family Collection, Adamson will talk about Peter Voulkos’ radical departures from precedent in the medium of ceramics, that reshaped the possibilities for the discipline, and place his work in the context of his immediate colleagues, such as Rudy Autio, John Mason, and Ken Price; and more recently by the likes of Arlene Shechet and Annabeth Rosen.
Adamson is Senior Scholar at the Yale Center for British Art and Editor-at-Large of The Magazine Antiques. A curator and theorist who works across the fields of design, craft, and contemporary art, he is former director of New York’s Museum of Arts and Design (MAD), and served as head of the research department at London’s Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum.
