Ansel Adams Tour: Michael Gallacher

Michael Gallacher has lived in western Montana for over 30 years. For the past 28 years he has worked as a staff photographer for the Missoulian newspaper. Originally from Colorado, Gallacher attended the University of Colorado and earned a commercial photography degree from Colorado Mountain College in his hometown of Glenwood Springs. In 1988, Gallacher signed with the Gamma Liaison Agency and is currently working with Getty Images. Gallacher’s work has appeared in Time, Newsweek, Forbes, Outside, American Heritage and Sports Illustrated to name a few. In 1998 he traveled to Honduras with a team of medical workers from Missoula to document their work in the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch. In 2001 he and his partner, journalist Betsy Cohen, spent three weeks in Belfast on a fellowship with the International Center for Journalists. Documenting the lives of his fellow Montanans and their changing landscape is work that Gallacher has always been honored to do. “People allow me into their lives to tell their stories. I never take that for granted,” Gallacher says. Michael lives in Missoula with his partner Betsy Cohen, their dog Delphi and horse Jewel.

Take a tour of this unique exhibition with Michael Gallacher, Missoulian Photographer. Gallacher has insight into the art and life of Ansel Adams. All tours are at 12 PM and are free. Sponsored by the Rocky Mountain School of Photography.
