TAP Summer Celebration & Mural Unveiling!

Thursday, August 14, 5- 6:30 PM

In the Missoula Art Park

Join us evening as we celebrate the incredible work of MAM’s Summer Teen Art Project students who spent their summer exploring Montana's keystone species through art! We're unveiling a stunning 14'x10' public mural celebrating Montana's ecosystem heroes—bison, beavers, and prairie dogs.

This collaborative installation was created by teen artists under the artistic guidance of Resident Artist Joanna LaPorte. The Summer TAP (Teen Art Project) was conceptualized earlier this year and brought to life under the direction of Janaína Vieira-Marques, MAM’s Educator and Outreach Coordinator, who also served as a mentor and artistic coordinator throughout the program. This summer, our teen artists learned from wildlife biologists and ecologists, developed artistic skills while creating meaningful public art, and explored the interconnectedness of species and their importance to our ecosystem.

Come witness how art can inspire change and celebrate the next generation of Montana artists! Join us for the official mural unveiling and hear directly from our teen participants about their transformative summer experience. This free community event showcases the power of creative collaboration and youth-driven art that sparks dialogue and strengthens our connection to the land. Made possible with major support from the Missoula Downtown Foundation, the Montana Arts Council, and Adventure Cycling. Thanks also to Front Street Pizza for weekly pizza donations.
